Pearls of wisdom.

About one-third of American women will have a hysterectomy by age sixty; over 600,000 each year - making it the second most commonly performed surgery.

But most women don’t know there are options.

The majority of hysterectomies are still performed using outdated methods causing a lengthy and painful recovery period and a large scar. Pass the Pearls advocates small incision surgery that reduces pain, suffering, recovery time and costs.

TO EDUCATE & TO EMPOWER

If you are considering a hysterectomy, you’re not alone. Pass The Pearls was created because many women are not aware of today's hysterectomy choices that can reduce pain and minimize scarring to an area similar in size to Pass The Pearls jewelry designs.

Pass the Pearls jewelry is sold to raise money for awareness campaigns. By purchasing, wearing and sharing items created by Pass The Pearls you become a partner in our campaign to educate women about their healthcare choices and to empower them to ask for minimally invasive procedures.

A Message From Dr. Jon LaPook, CBS Correspondent

In 2008, I interviewed my friend, Dr. Lori Warren, for a segment on the “CBS Evening News.”  She passionately explained how hundreds of thousands of women were getting unnecessary abdominal hysterectomies each year instead of having a much simpler laparoscopic procedure.  The viewer response was something she tries to avoid during surgery but welcomed while trying to raise awareness: she struck a nerve.
